An Often Overlooked Male Infertility Treatment Option: Pre-conception Care
By Carol Andrews
While many doctors, gynecologists and OB/GYN's will tell you that pre-conception care doesn't make much difference in terms of treatment, there have been studies that indicate differently. Furthermore, not only is it going to increase a couple's chances of becoming pregnant for the woman to become healthier prior to trying to become pregnant, but the male also should consider pre-conception care as a possible male treatment and to increase the odds of becoming pregnant.
The reason that pre-conception care can improve a couple's chances of becoming pregnant and become part of the treatment solution, (when maybe they have been trying for quite some time without success) is because of how long it takes the male sperm and the female eggs to mature. All treatment should involve becoming healthier. While you're feeding your body's healthfully, and improving your body's physical care, your sperm or eggs have the opportunity to mature into healthy, baby making machines!
One of the most overlooked male treatment options is the notion of male pre-conception care. Exercise is one of the primary actions you can take to improve your overall health. You read and hear about the benefits of regular exercise everywhere you turn; and your reproductive health is no different. Getting proper exercise as part of your pre-conception care can improve the health of your body and therefore becomes part of a successful treatment program.
In addition to exercise, treatment research shows that the health of sperm is greatly dependent upon the body temperature. It's helpful then, for men undergoing treatment and improving their pre-conception care to be sure to wear proper, loose fitting clothing during exercise in order to avoid overheating the body (and thus, the sperm).

male treatment will also make adjustments to your diet. There are certain foods that have been found to be damaging to developing sperm and eggs in the adult bodies, and can actually work against any treatment you are doing. These foods include white flour, alcohol, caffeine, saturated fats, and foods high in preservatives and additives. The reasons for avoiding these foods are all different, but mostly involve the food preventing the body from absorbing nutrients that are necessary for healthy sperm or egg production. If you are a male undergoing treatment, then, it makes sense that you avoid these foods.
When discussing various treatment options with your doctor, or performing your own research, you should not overlook the value of pre-conception care as an treatment possibility. Studies have shown positive results in couples who have taken the time and effort to undergo such treatment, and proper pre-conception care includes the male partner for the best chance of success.
