Not all the changes that occur during pregnancy are good. Some can sometimes be for the better. Most women suffer from morning sickness which ironically may not occur in the morning. where is the place of hair loss? In answer to that, you should realize that because of the consistent change, parts of the body become sensitive. This includes your scalp where the hair follicles are present. Because the body is going through rapid changes, one of the important hormones in the body called oestrogen becomes increased in quantity. This quickens the body metabolism which in turn influences the production and breakdown of nutrients in the body. Parts of these nutrients are rushed to the scalp where there is a concentration of the hair follicles. This presence of abundant nutrients then increases the rate of hair growth resulting in hair fall out. Increased hormonal activity in the body too stimulates the growth of the hair faster and therefore results in the woman losing her hair faster than she can regrow it. Please note that there are other causes of hair loss during pregnancy. This will be concluded in the second part of this two-part article. By: Rudy S.
