Aromatherapy: Naturally Treating Infertility

Infertility occurs in about 15% of couples who are trying to become pregnant. About 35-40% of the causes are known and related to the male, with about the same percentage of related to causes within the female, and about 20% of cases are from unknown causes.
Natural treatment options can be used for all causes of infertility, and are often recommended among the first round of treatment prior to more medical methods of treatment. A variety of natural treatment options may also be recommended in all cases of where the cause is unknown.
One method of natural treatment involves aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils from plants in a variety of ways. Some oils are massaged into the person's skin, some oils are included in the bath water, and others are placed in a candle warmer or other aromatherapy unit to be vaporized and breathed in. The method used depends upon the results the participant is looking to achieve with aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy is traditionally used as a method of relaxation and stress relief- with certain scents being thought to provoke these feelings in the person using aromatherapy.
